God Is Working, right?
“Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:29-31)
I’ve often wondered why I sometimes act like God doesn’t see me or what’s going on in my life? Ultimately God created me FOR HIMSELF! To love, to care for and to commune with. So, why wouldn’t He take care of me or why have I thought that He wouldn’t? Let’s face it, we can sing His praises in service and even throughout the ‘good times’ but what about when we can’t see His hand at work in our lives? What about the times we’re presented with insurmountable bills or challenges we didn’t foresee, then what? Will I still shout “God, You are good! God, You supply all of my needs according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus?”
The truth is, those things are the Truth! Yes, God is good! Yes, He will supply all of our needs. His Word says it and He doesn’t lie, He can’t lie! But somehow what we see and feel have at times taken on the face or the hand of God for us. “I don’t SEE You working God, so maybe You’re not. Maybe You don’t see what I’m going through. Maybe You’ve forgotten me, at least in this situation.” When in reality, we’re called to walk by FAITH and not by sight. The things we see and feel change and will continue to change, daily. It’s a part of life and the world we live in.
Think about it, are you the same height you were when you were in first grade? Have you outgrown the clothes you used to wear? What about the seasons? Summer didn’t last forever, did it? The flowers didn’t stick around for Fall’s appearance nor did the leaves for Winter’s snow. All of that to say, everything is subject to change. I don’t know about you, but I never ‘saw’ myself growing, I only knew it by the way my clothes began to fit or not fit anymore. I didn’t see Summer ending and leading us into Fall, I only noticed it when I began to see the leaves but Fall was destined to come and it had been coming all along, I just didn’t notice it until the manifestation of it was here.
What if all along God’s been working? We may not see it just yet, but we will. Yes, we will indeed because we serve a God who loves us SO MUCH that He knows the number of hairs on our heads! He’s aware of the birds, how much more is He aware of us? He sees the financial need, He sees the heartaches we’ve gone through, He’s seen the tears we’ve cried AND He keeps record of those tears. The Bible says He’s bottled them up! (Psalm 56:8) He sees, and He knows just what we need. Not only does He see and know but He’s willing and able to help us. To take care OF and FOR us! (1 Peter 5:7) He’s still in the business of perfecting all that concerns us! (Psalm 138:8)
Our part? Trust Him! (Proverbs 3:5) We’re invited to take our cares, our worries and anything that bothers us to Him! Praise and worship Him knowing that He is able and that He IS AT WORK! Magnify Him above the issues and watch as they diminish in His presence. They may not disappear right away, but their power will be weakened because praise and worship and the Word of God all have the power to shift our perspectives. On the other side of our faith in Him we will see that God has been working all along, in fact, He never stopped. Is God working for you, for me? Yes, yes indeed He is! He’s still in the business of completion and as long as you’re living on planet earth, He’s not done with you. (Philippians 1:6) He’s finishing the good work that He began! Let’s not leave it up to our circumstances to tell us what God is doing, let’s feed on His faithfulness and know that whether we ‘see’ Him working or not, He IS because of His love for us!
